Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Spectral ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service.
2. Description of Service
Spectral is a browser-based photo editor. Processing runs locally on your device via WebGL 2 and WebAssembly. Core color grading tools run in the browser without an account, with optional Pro features available via a one-time license.
Spectral is an independent project maintained in spare time. Service availability and update cadence carry no commercial warranties.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Spectral. Users under 18 require parental or guardian permission.
4. Your Content
You retain full ownership of photos and recipes created in Spectral. Processing is local, so the developer never receives or claims rights over your images.
5. Permitted Use
You may use Spectral for personal and commercial editing. You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claims, losses, or legal costs arising from your content or breach of these terms.
- Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application.
- Do not remove proprietary notices from the codebase.
- Do not resell or redistribute the software bundle as a standalone product.
- Do not use automated scraping tools against application endpoints.
- Do not attempt to bypass access restrictions or license validation.
- Do not use the Service for unlawful purposes.
6. Cookbook Recipes & LUT Exports
Presets and .cube LUT files created in Spectral belong entirely to you. You may share, distribute, or sell your exported looks.
7. Intellectual Property
Spectral branding, shaders, source code, and design are the intellectual property of Martijn de Valk.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Spectral is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. You use the application at your own sole risk and discretion, and you are solely responsible for maintaining adequate, independent backups of your original image files and projects.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developer (Martijn de Valk / Spectral) be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, corrupted image files, loss of revenue or profits, business interruption, or hardware and browser malfunction resulting from your use of or inability to use the application.
For users of the free service, total liability is strictly limited to zero (€0.00). For any paid license dispute, total aggregate liability is strictly limited to the amount actually paid for Spectral Pro (maximum €20.00).
10. Payment and Refunds
Spectral Pro is a one-time payment of €20 processed via Mollie. Pro status is stored locally. Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase by contacting support via email.
11. Termination
You can discontinue use at any time by clearing your browser storage.
12. Modifications to Terms
Terms updates will be posted here with a revised date.
13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These terms and any disputes arising from or relating to your use of Spectral are governed exclusively by the laws of the Netherlands. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Netherlands.
14. Severability
If any provision is deemed unenforceable, remaining terms remain in effect.
